Enhancing ASUS with Top-Notch Website Performance, Security, and Scalability
ASUSTek (ASUS) is the world leader in designing and building next-generation smart technologies, including innovative motherboards, personal computers, monitors, graphics cards and routers. ASUS is also popular among gamers loyal to their Republic of Gamers and TUF Gaming series products.
To stay connected with multiple audiences, ASUS has nearly 100 website domains covering its multiple consumer product lines, online store, firmware update and large file download library, corporate websites and internal operations functions. To ensure they were delivering online experiences as powerful as their technology, ASUS needed a cloud-based CDN provider to improve performance, availability and security and overcome limitations it faced from its legacy CDN. The Azure CDN from Edgio and its Super PoP architecture improved performance and cache hit ratios for external and internal audiences while reducing CDN costs. Our built-in edge security protection with WAAP (Web Application and API Protection) reduced the time to mitigate attacks resulting in improved overall uptime. And firmware updates are smoother than ever before.
“We are extremely happy with the performance, reliability and security services that Azure and Edgio provide on their CDN platform. With Azure and Edgio, we are confident we can support our global business growth requirements.”
Stephen Jung, Associate Vice President – ASUSTek
ASUStek's Challenge
ASUS wanted to embrace the cloud to become a more flexible, scalable and secure enterprise. Onboarding ASUS required meticulous planning and execution to minimize any disruption. There were nearly 100 ASUS domains to migrate from the legacy CDN vendor, including critical product websites and corporate functions like HR, IT and marketing
ASUS needed to achieve the following:
- Overcome limitations of its legacy CDN
- Increase performance and availability of websites
- Implement comprehensive security protection of data
- Enhance control and flexibility of CDN performance
ASUStek's Solution
After a successful trial, the Edgio Expert Services team began migrating nearly 100 ASUS domains from the previous CDN vendor to the Azure CDN from Edgio. The migration went flawlessly and was completed in three months –– much faster than ASUS expected. With a strong commitment in the APAC region, Azure CDN from Edgio delivers challenging distributed workloads, secure firmware deployments to millions of mobile devices, and large file software downloads to PCs and laptops worldwide.
The Edgio Super PoP architecture consists of a massive 240 Tbps computing power and high-bandwidth capacity at high-density Internet connection points. This modern architecture delivers better CDN performance across more metrics than ASUS’s legacy CDN provider. The Azure CDN from Edgio delivers an increased cache hit ratio, realizing significant CDN cost savings. Edgio Security increased uptime and block profile accuracy (low false positives), improved fast rule propagation times, and reduced time to mitigate attacks.
The Azure CDN from Edgio provides ASUS with:
- Overcome limitations of its legacy CDN
Increase performance and availability of websites - Implement comprehensive security protection of data
- Enhance control and flexibility of CDN performance
- Better performance across multiple metrics
